MAROTTA CARPETS AND ANTIQUES


1929. Giovanni Marotta and his daughter Maria start the activity.

1954. Maria Marotta married Cesare Bergoglio and the new Marotta arises in Via dei Mille in Torino, moved in C.so Vittorio Emanuele 36 with the importation of foreign antique trade and eastern carpets.

1958. New opening of the great Galleria Marotta in Rapallo (Genova).

1970. On May 13th the third prestigious place of business Marotta is inaugurated in the center of Milan. Gallery presented antiques and main art exhibition, from Flemings to Italian '800, since contemporary paintings.

1971. At the same time in Moncalieri arises a precious laboratory of reastauration for every kind of antiques. With help of professionists from the artisan teachers' schools from Sicily to Neapolitan, from Veneto to Piedmont itself, born an expository area of 2000 sq.m. of old and new carpets, with the section great realizes of offers and reducted prices.

Therefore the important customers arrives from all over Italy and abroad to give assent at this company that increases importation from west to the east.
The son Cesare Bergoglio junior hugs the same wonderful activity allowing a further development to the company, and so giving continuity to a work led with always renewed passion from three generations by now.

The expository area is formed by a shed of over 2000 sq.m. where monthly arrives containers of eastern carpets, antique and ethnic furnitures, and a wide assortment of gift objects.
